Ahh September arrived and we really started to settle in to our new home and area.  With most of the boxes emptied and even some pictures hung on the walls we got out a bit to explore the area.  Aunt Kat was still with us for Labor Day.  We visited the Omaha Children's Museum and the children enjoyed dress up time, crafts, a carousel ride, and fun in the bug exhibit.  Swim lessons kicked off and the girls dove right into the action.  Dominic and Faelynn took some time off from play to join Corinne for first grade activities.  Around the house we had two big projects.  The fence was put in to contain the little people and Pele.  The second big project was the foundation for the tree fort.  Robert had a good time and a lot of help putting in the post holes.  As the pictures show his assistants were on the job with no slacking off or fooling around.  The rest of the tree fort construction project is scheduled for Spring 2014.

Two outings we enjoyed were a Horses for Heroes event at the base and a hot air balloon launch and glow at an Iowa apple tree orchard.  The Horses for Heroes event was held in conjunction with a big rodeo that came to town.  The horses were brought to the base for children to experience riding.  Corinne had a blast.  Faelynn was a bit tentative, but finished the ride.  She felt very high up.  The hot air balloon launch and glow in Iowa was really nice.  We came early to scope out a spot for chairs and blankets.  There was food, music, a play area for the kids, and nice weather.  The balloons launched and then returned before inflating for an evening balloon glow.  Robert and the girls were able to go up to the balloons and get in some of the baskets.  It was fun.  We look forward to autumn and October.
